The roots and foundation of Roosters lay in Bashir Mirza's family fish and chip restaturant by Kew Bridge in the early 80s. Bashir's son Khalid began working after school hours and during holidays, eventually taking over the business after he left school.
Five years later Roosters was born as a premium kebab shop with fried chicken additions on the menu. Eventually Khalid and his then business partner turned Roosters into a successful fried chicken emporium. They wanted the ability to control and ensure the best sources for quality ingredients with distribution to match.
By 1996 Roosters had expanded with its own food distribution. Khalid's partner left the business a few years later to pursue other interests, Khalid Mirza resumed control and is at the helm of the business, with his brothers Tahir and Shabir working on shop design, construction and sourcing new store locations respectively. Since then Roosters has gone from strength to strength, taking great steps forward in expanding its product range into a healthier 'fast food' alternative.
In 2003, Roosters began expanding on a more health conscious range of food products, and Roosters Piri Piri was born.
Essentially it is fresh chicken marinated in Roosters' own trademarked seasoning overnight, then steam-cooked and freshly flame-frilled to order. It reveals a unique delicious barbecue flavour without losing the moisture and tenderness of the chicken, and complimented by the sauce flavour of your choice, makes a great, tasty, healthy meal choice.
This method of cooking is now integral to the business, Rooster Piri Piri is leaving behind the traditional concept of fast food fried chicken, making bold steps to innovate the fast food market.
Key to Roosters' successful brand is using the finest ingredients and recreating a home-cooked flavour. Supporting this is great design and innovative marketing initiatives, balancing value for money without compromise in quality. Roosters' mantra is 'Changing fast food for good', and their aim is to do just that.
Roosters is very proud of its' food products, and in 2004 started franchising the business in order to promote its healthier option and are in interested in franchisees that will add value to the brand.
Franchisees are regarded as business partners, and are given the autonomy within their territory to develop and grow their business. London FoodService (the food distribution arm of Roosters) is the sole supplier for all Roosters products. This ensures only the highest grade of chicken is supplied with all seasonings being additive and preservative-free, thereby maintaining the integrity of the product from the ingredient to the plate. The LFS staff have vast experience in food service and are on hand to help and aid franchisees with advice and information.
